The Anglican Cluster Parishes of West Maitland are Christian communities who gather to worship, learn, reflect & grow in relationship with God and one another.
Welcome to The Cluster Parishes of West Maitland
Our communities incorporate the Anglican Parishes of St Mary the Virgin, Maitland and St Christopher’s, Telarah-Rutherford. Our churches stand on Wonnarua Country and we pay our respect to elders past, present and emerging. Together, our communities live into being the body of Christ in this time and place.
We as a community value and welcome all people. We recognise that every person has inherent value and is a child of God. Our communities are formed with people from many different walks of life. Our doors are open for you too.

About the Anglican Parish of Maitland
The Anglican Cluster Parishes of West Maitland are communities of Christian people that come together to worship, learn, reflect, renew and build their relationship with God and each other.
We strive to be safe, inclusive and respectful flourishing communities of faith that nurture spirituality and respond to the needs of the people of the church and wider community. As we reflect on St Paul’s understanding of the church being the body of Christ in the world, we believe that the two parishes working together as a whole to embody the Kingdom of God makes us stronger and more able to meet the needs of the communities in which we live and work. We are two communities, but one family.
When you come amongst us, you will experience a place of belonging, supportive fellowship and a strong sense of hope for the future.
We worship in the Anglican Catholic tradition and offer a range of services across the two parishes. All are welcome to come and be a part of our communities.
We are parishes of the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle, in the Anglican Church of Australia.
Caring for one another
Caring for each other is at the very heart of our communities. Our pastoral care, mission and outreach ministries are available to all. You are welcome to come and be part of our communities, to receive healing and prayer ministries, to access services to aid living, to find a place of belonging, and to enjoy fellowship.
These ministries can be accessed through: worship services, contacting the pastoral care team, attending Welfare Mornings on Tuesday’s at St Christophers, coming along to the 10am Wednesday Service at St Mary’s, attending fellowship groups: Knit and Knatter, Mother’s Union, Men’s Fellowship Group, Conversation Corner at St Luke’s Op Shop or contacting our prayer ministry team.
For more information you can phone us on (02) 4933 5302 or fill out a Pastoral Care Enquiry.
“Jesus said: A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13. 34, 35
Spiritual growth
All of us are on a journey as we walk our way through life. Gathering together as community to pray and study gives us an opportunity to learn more about God, ourselves and each other. Within our Cluster communities we run a variety of bible studies, reflection groups and meditation groups throughout the year. We also hold an annual ‘In-House’ Retreat that is led by different leaders each year. Throughout the year we also offer workshops to assist us in developing creative ways of expressing and enriching our relationship with God. Stay tuned to our St Mary’s and St Christopher’s Facebook Pages for current groups and events or call us on (02) 4933 5302 for further information.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. … The one who calls you is faithful..”
